Impossible.

This quote has been my inspiration for my Mary Kay journey.  It gets so easy to let myself get overwhelmed and think I'm never going to meet my goals or I don't have enough time.  Then I remind myself that nothing is impossible.  I read the quote again and again until it sinks in and I get started.

I have one week. One week to recruit at least 3 more team members.  One week to get them active as well as my other inactive team member.  One week to start qualifications for my first Mary Kay car.

I can totally do this.

ps If you want to hear more about the opportunity I would love to share! I have done one interview this week and I need 4 more before Monday! Even if you think you are not interested but want to help me out it is appreciated :)

Dreams.

The past few weeks have so intimidating yet wonderful at the same time. Have you ever had that happen?? Be so excited about something that scares the crap out of you?? It's an interesting feeling.

I talked to my MK director, Melissa, earlier this week and shared with her my goal for the week.  My goal is to be the sole financial provider for my family so Matthew can go back to school.  He really wants to go and I really want him to be able to find a job I enjoy as much as MK and teaching.  She lined up a month-by-month plan for me and now I can hardly sleep at night.  My brain runs with ideas and dreams.  I think of everything I did and and everything I still need to do.  I dream of being a director, driving a fabulous free car, rocking a hot leopard print coach bag, and waltzing down the runway at seminar debuting as a director.

This is my current desktop background.  It's also my current goal poster.  The coach bag is at top.  The car is a Chevy Malibu.  I will have qualified for this car in May! I'm hoping, though, to end up with the 2012 black Ford Mustang. We'll see how that goes.  The ring in the top right is the prize for Queen of Sales.  The rest of the prizes are Star Consultants prizes.  I have to be a star consultant this quarter to be eligible for Director Qualification.  I'm really going for the free pass to seminar :) :) :)

Part of MK is sharing your goals and dreams, so here I am.  For better or for worse you know what I'm working for.  Financial security and some amazing prizes! I can't wait to share my successes with you!

Selling Lipstick

I have gotten some strange reactions when I tell people I am a Mary Kay consultant. Some of these looks are due to my formerly shy nature, but most are due to the stereotype of Mary Kay.  This is frustrating, yet rewarding, because I get a chance to explain what Mary Kay cosmetics is all about and what being a consultant actually means.

First, I want to say that becoming a consultant is THE best career decision I have ever made.  In three months I have grown in confidence and am becoming a stronger person.  Tell me what other job can give me that?? I have not regretted my decision at all since starting and I love what I do.

Second, let's talk about Mary Kay.  MK was originally founded on skincare, not cosmetics.  When you have an MK consultant, you have a skincare specialist.  Good makeup makes you look good for what, 15 hours?  Good skincare makes you look good for 15 years. So while MK does have cosmetic products, it is much more than just "selling lipstick." It is also not "just for old ladies."  It is never too early to start preventing the signs of aging, and it's never too late to help reverse them.  MK is for everyone, yes, even men!

One of my fears coming in was that I was any reactions I may get coming from a feminist-empowerment, social-justice program.  How was I going to explain quitting my degree to make women more attractive?!  Well, Mary Kay made that easy.  While reading her autobiography (which I totally recommend by the way) I realized that the company is the definition of empowerment!  Mary Kay started the company to give women a chance in a man's world.  Through this business I am my own boss! I give myself a raise or a promotion whenever I want.  When I pay myself, I don't get 75c to the dollar, I get the full dollar!!!  And my classes are about helping women feel more beautiful and confident for themselves, not for a man.  Self-care is so important, and women rarely take the time to do it.  However, I have noticed that taking the extra 15 minutes twice a day for my skincare routine makes me feel so much more confident during the day. When I go to work, I get to share that feeling with other people and get paid for it.  I can't imagine a better job!

My director and all those in our unit are amazing as well.  I can't tell you how refreshing it is to be a part of a real group of women! And by real I mean honest, sincere, and caring... not backstabbing! It's amazing. I am so inspired by the women I spend every Monday night and am loving the fellowship! The rewards of being a consultant are amazing as well.  I have already earned three pairs of earrings for free! My goal at the moment is to finish out this year by earning a free 2012 chevy malibu, completely free!  Agh! I can't wait!!

So yeah, this was a long post, but I hope I at least made my point :) If you are interested in any products, hosting a party, or starting your career let me know! Even if we are very far away I can work with you, promise!  www.marykay.com/ksavoie

New Adventures.

Yes, I have taken yet another vacation from my little bloggy world. Again, my apologies to my faithful readers!

I have a couple of big things to share with you, so get excited!!  (you excited yet?? huh?? GREAT!!)
  1. My wonderful Hubby graduated from college! He now has his Associates in computer information technology! The best part, he was number one in his program! I'm so proud of him :)
  2. We got another furbaby :)  This one is of the feline variety and I am in love with her.  Her name is Alice Rose but mostly she gets called Ali-cat or kit-kat.  My mom found her in a rose bush in a shopping center.  Someone just dumper her there. I can't believe people sometimes.  However, she is now a part of our little family and she fits in quite well! Porter loves her too and they play great together.  Our little family is finally complete... for now ;)
  3. I have started my own business.  I am an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay! I love it so far and it has definitely been one of the best decisions I have made. :: insert shameless plug - my website is up and running and I offer free shipping *hint hint*.  I would also love to start a unit so any one interested in selling let me know. There are no location restrictions on team members so even if you live across the country I can work with you. I'm also willing to host a giveaway  :) - end shameless plug ::
  4. Matthew and I both have new jobs! He started training this week for his.  The schedule will be awful but the pay isn't horrible and he gets good benefits.  My job is unofficial for the moment but should start the second week of July.  It's part time so I can still work on my Mary Kay.  I'll be teaching at the Spencer Co Adult Education Center!
That's it for now. I have a couple of other posts in mind, so hopefully I can keep up and get things posted! Fingers crossed :)
