Victory is mine!

So I have been stressing out practically all weekend. I had a test and a paper due today, and just couldn't really find the time or will power for either of them. After staying up late last night, and using my first class to study for my test, I have completed both. My test was a lot easier than I thought it would be, and my professor put the answer keys outside the door so we could look at them after we turned our test in. I only missed two, which gives me a 96 on the test! How very exciting!!! I also turned my paper in. I feel about 20 pounds lighter now! I still have a test tomorrow, but it is all I have so I can focus solely on it.

On a different note, Amanda and I witnessed something quite interesting today. We were walking to the student center for lunch when we noticed a group of maintenance guys standing around with a water hose. We thought they were watering flowers, until we got a little closer. They were watering.... are you ready for it?.... a sign. Apparently it was thirsty.... My tuition money is going to watering a post!

Last but not least, it is Wednesday so therefore I have the crime report. There were exactly 10 cases of alcohol intoxication and/or drug/marijuana use. There were also 7 cases of theft. What really got me this week was two cases of mulch fires, and once attempted fire. My guess is that a careless smoker is to blame for the mulch fires (but two in one week? How weird is that?) and an attempted fire from the bus shelter at K Lot (I guess the people were cold...... in 85 degree weather????).

No crazy grandma this week

This morning was rough. Matthew woke me up at around 6:50 this morning telling me his truck won't start....again. My alarm wasn't set to go off until 7:30, so that was 40 minutes of good sleep gone. (It's ok though, I don't mind helping him out cause I love him, but I like my sleep). So I got up and took him to work, then came home and got ready for class. When I got to campus, I figured Starbucks was in order, so I get some hot chocolate and head to my first class. Unfortunately, I got in a fight with my beverage.... and it won. I have been walking around all day long with brown spots down the front of my light blue shirt. I have gotten a lot of attention today because of it, but that isn't necessarily the way I would prefer to get attention. Anyway, I thought my day would be ruined, until I remembered that it is Wednesday, and therefore crime report day! I searched the paper until at last I found it! Oh boy is it a good one too!

  • Male swimming nude in pond arrested for indecent exposure at Nicholasville Road and Cooper Drive at 7:14 p.m. I included the location and time for a reason. The pond of which they speak is right next to Nicholasville Road. This road is one of the busiest roads in Lexington, and at 7:14 p.m. it is quite possible that this guy had an audience. What would inspire someone to go skinny dipping in a pond in the middle of a high traffic area?
  • Subject passed out behind wheel of running car. We don't need the specifics for this one. I wonder, though, if that is actually where they passed out (which is scary because they may have intended on driving) or if they passed out elsewhere and were put in the car by some friends(?). Either way, it is more scary than funny....
  • Suspicious circumstances including a machete-like object in a milk crate attached to bike. I don't even have anything to say about this one, except for "wow."
These are really the only different ones. There were the usual "marijuana" and "alcohol" uses, as well as a couple of people refusing to leave the premises.

Also, no one reads this right now... so I'm basically talking (typing?) to myself. It's OK though, maybe one day someone will read my blog and find this all funny lol

Crime Report

As promised, here is this week's crime report. I must say it is much more entertaining than last week, but I guess I should let you decide :)
  • Car window reported broken and $400 in cash reorted stlen in the K Lot. OK, so I know K Lot is dangerous for cars. At least one car is broken into each semester. The question here is who in the world keeps $400 in cash in their car? It is kinda like saying "Over here! break into my car!!"
  • Alcohol intoxication arrest at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity house. No way! Alcohol intoxication at a frat house?!?! You've got to be kidding me! (hahaha in case you couldn't tell, this was complete sarcasm....)
  • Parking signs reported stolen at Parking Structure No. 6. Apparently stealing parking signs is still cool......
  • Male subject reported yelling at passing females at Keeneland Hall. It does not specify, but I would assume this male was yelling inappropriate remarks, otherwise I don't think it would have made it in the paper... I mean a college man yelling at college women is not all that uncommon.
I hope you may have chuckled at least a little bit. Like I said in the last report, these are not the best that I've seen. Keep your fingers crossed for a better week next week! lol

Crime Report

Every week, the Kernel publishes the weekly crime report. I always try to check for it because I have encountered some interesting "crimes" through the past three years. This week was definitely not the best I've seen, but there were a couple of goods ones so I decided to share. Enjoy! :D
  • Sept. 1: Sexual activity reported on Rose Street. OK, so Amanda and I were thinking about the possible scenarios for this. I will let you decide, but we think it may have involved a vehicle and one of the parking "dips" across from chem-phys.....
  • Sept. 1: Theft of perfume from Smith Hall. First off, who reports stolen perfume? It must have been expensive... I can imagine someone calling the police "Help! Someone stole my Obsession knock-off I bought at Wal-mart for $5!!!" hahaha Anyway, it is just an interesting thing to report. And it's just the perfume... nothing else. It had to have been someone that had been in the room before. Who knows.
I know these are not particularly hilarious, but I will try to find some really good ones and post them. Last year we had anything from the regular marijuana use, to "man being chased by grandmother in wheelchair in front of UK Clinic." (and yes, I am being totally serious about that last one.)
