Date Night

During the week Matthew and I do good to spend 5 minutes straight with each other.  He is off on Fridays and Saturdays so we usually take advantage of that time for mini dates.  Money is tight so we don't go out like we use to, but that doesn't mean we still can't have fun.

Our day together began with a blast from the past. I swear my husband is either the most amazing man ever or a masochist... regardless he sat with me and watched the MTV movie from 2000. Yep, I'm referring to 2ge+her.
If you haven't seen this movie, well, I don't particularly recommend it. It's funny but in a really stupid, vulgar at times way.  While watching it I couldn't believe my dad  let my sister and me watch it 12 (! it's really been that long!!) years ago. However, if you are a glutton for punishment, you can catch a little glimpse of the awfulness on youtube:

After this we went to Steak n Shake for dinner to go... guacamole steakburgers, fries, and chocolate-banana side-by-side milkshakes :)

We brought it home and started our second movie of the night: Puss in Boots. This movie was absolutely adorable!! I would definitely recommend it.
Overall it's been a pretty good day! Porter has been adorable (as usual) and has spent most of the day curled up between us on the couch.  Alice has been her normal self and has spent most of the time asleep on the back of the couch. At one point, however, she did lay in my lap (gasp!!). She is so NOT a people cat. sigh...

So what do you do for date nights? I need ideas!

Again.

It's that time of year again.

Yep.

Time to get tickets for the midnight showing of Eclipse!!!

What, that wasn't what you were expecting??  What planet are you from then?!

Ha ha, I kid. Sorta :D

I went today and spent WAY too much money, but I got tickets. And not just any ordinary tickets. My theatre is showing Twilight and New Moon before Eclipse. SQUEEEE!!!  So starting at 7:15 pm on June 29th, Matthew, the Bestie, her bf, and I will have our butts planted in a movie theater seat (poor guys never had a chance!). I'm so very excited!

Mutual

I'm pretty sure Jillian Michaels hates me.

After my workout today, I can tell you one thing for sure:

The feeling is mutual.

I started the Shred again today. I actually made it through the whole workout this time unlike my first attempt months ago. The realization that I have less than 6 months before my wedding day has me freaking out about losing the rest of this weight in time. I'm having a hard time tracking (and with my self-control) but I'm working on it. To speed things up I need to add in some exercise. So I did some yoga on the Wii to loosen up my back and started the Shred again (and WILL keep with it this time *fingers crossed*). My limbs feel like noodles right now, but I know it will be worth in in a few weeks :)

In other news, I took Matthew to see Alice in Wonderland last night. We drove to Louisville (about 45min. drive) to see it at the IMAX in 3D at 10p. However, when we got there they were sold out of all IMAX showings, and the next available regular (but still 3D) showing wasn't until 11:15pm. We were a little bummed we drove that far for IMAX and couldn't see it, but we stuck around for the later showing. It was our first 3D experience at least, and the new environment was something out of the ordinary for us :)  The movie was really cute. Matthew liked it a lot, but he's a big Alice in Wonderland fan (books, movies, videogames, etc.). I think we are going to go back on an off-night over spring break to see it in IMAX. Should be fun!

I think this is enough for one day! The weather is BEAUTIFUL here this weekend, but I'm stuck inside procrastinating writing a paper until later tonight when I'm going to a friend's bday party. I hope you have a wonderful weekend :)

Eventful Weekend

I didn't realize it had been so long since my last post! I'm so sorry!

First, I owe you an update on the doctor situation. I wrote my nasty-grams and like the chicken I am hoped to slip them in their mailboxes before they noticed I was there. That definitely didn't happen. The one who owed me money saw me and brought me my check (finally). I talked to her about the tax information but she said the other doctor handled that stuff. That night I got an email from the other doctor apologizing for not having taken care of it, saying their old secretary did all that stuff for them so it wasn't on there "radarscreen." They gave the forms to their current office manager (my classmate) to give me tomorrow. Yay! That means I can scan them and email it to dad to get my taxes filed and my financial aid stuff filled out. One big check off the major list of things to do this month.

Yesterday was a big day for Matthew and me as we were able to cross a few more things off that "list." We signed the contract for the reception site! My fantastic dad offered to pay for it. I am so lucky to have him as a father (and not just because he pays for stuff). He does things for my sister and me because he wants to, not necessarily because he has to. It makes it that much more of a blessing :)

We also took our engagement pics yesterday. We had so much fun and our photographer is amazing. I just love her! She did my senior pics in high school and she is the go-to photographer for all of our family's picture needs lol. I have been checking facebook obsessively waiting for her to post them. As soon as she does I will put my faves on here for you to see.

Last but not least, we went to the movies last night to see Valentine's Day. I heard some mixed reviews about it, but overall I liked it. There were a few things I knew were coming, and a few that totally caught me off guard which I really enjoyed. Besides a few narrow-minded people in the audience, I enjoyed the whole experience. We don't get to the movies very much these days, so it was a nice treat and a perfect ending to a pretty wonderful day.

I have some other pics I wanted to show you, but my camera isn't connecting to my computer for some reason. I'll try again later :)

*update: my camera/computer decided to behave. Here are two pictures I took and messed with on photoshop :)
Our little visitor Saturday morning.
The image is real. I only messed with the color saturation.

Remember Me

I went to see New Moon again tonight.

(For anyone keeping count, yeah, that is 3 times, and also $21.50 I will never get back, but do NOT regret spending...)

One thing I forgot to mention after seeing it on Friday night was my theater showed a preview for RPattz new movie, Remember Me. I saw it on MySpace a few days ago, but was ecstatic to see it on the big screen (especially since I never saw a preview for New Moon in the theaters). It popped up again tonight, and the Bestie was happy because she had not seen it yet.

So, have you seen this trailer yet?

I am super excited. RPattz looks super good in it, even if he does get his butt kicked. If I am correct, it comes out on Valentine's Day (as does the Taylor2 movie "Valentine's Day"). I wonder which one will do better? At least for that day, I will def. be Team Edward :)

Bring on the Popcorn and the hunks :)

I have much to share today, so where should I start? Hmmm...

Guess I'll start with George (of course haha). His vet appointment this week didn't go as well as the others. Don't worry, he's ok... but he managed to leave his mark on a couple of assistants and my arm as well. The meds are working, but we still have to up the dose because they aren't working well enough. Go figure.

This week/weekend is full of movies:
  • The Hangover. OMG... this movie... I'm pretty much speechless about it. It was hilarious, but it was also quite disturbing at parts. I saw certain things that I never, ever needed to see. (FYI.. Bradley Cooper is totally gorgeous in this movie. Just sayin ;D )
  • Paul Blart Mall Cop. Matthew and I saw this in theatres a while ago, and we caught it on Blu-Ray for really cheap the other night. My Twilight BD was getting lonely :) It is a really cute movie, so if you haven't seen it you totally should.
  • The Proposal. The Bestie and I had a girl's night last night which entailed dinner at Friday's, shopping at Gordmans, lots of girl talk, and The Proposal. The theater was packed! We were disappointed that the New Moon trailer wasn't shown (as newmoonmovie.org had speculated...) but the movie was really good regardless. I laughed the ENTIRE time! Oh yeah, a hot Ryan Reynolds doesn't hurt either!
  • Star Trek. You know that I have already seen this movie. Since tomorrow is Father's Day, I'm taking my dad to see it. He doesn't get to go to the movies very often, so it will be a treat for him :) And he is kind of a trekkie lol
I can think of worse ways to spend the hot summer weekend than in an air-conditioned theater laughing my butt off (or swooning over Chris Pine... whatevs). So what are you up to this weekend???

I'm around here somewhere

This week has been crazy insane... hence the no new posts, comments, etc. I started back at work last week, and I'm still babysitting in the evenings, so I get up really early, rush to get to work early so that I can leave early, rush to get home before the baby gets there, then babysit for 2 and 1/2 hours. Tuesday night I fixed dinner after she left and then literally passed out on the couch. Last night, I took Matthew to dinner and a movie for watching George this weekend while I was at my dad's. We saw Star Trek... and I actually really liked it! and Chris Pine... omg. That's all I have to say about that one! haha

I am going to try really hard to not abandon my blog over the next couple of weeks but to be honest it is going to be very difficult. I just finished the fourth book in a series, but I want to finish it before I write a review and the last book doesn't come out until later this summer. So I guess there is that to look forward to. I also have a couple of pictures on my camera of recipes that I need to share. I'll try to fit it in soon!

I Got a Golden Ticket!!!

Well, not really golden, but close enough! I fought 5:30 Nicholasville Road traffic to get Twilight tickets. I finally made it to the movie theater, and went straight to the window and made my demand. The 12:01am showing was sold out, but I got 4 tickets to the 12:05am showing. I figure that if I am waiting this long, 4 more minutes won't kill me (I hope....). Amanda and I are taking Matthew and Stefan, and they better pay attention (or even take notes... that would be awesome lol). Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled for the movie. Less than two weeks away!

Now that I have made an attempt to spread my joy, I must begin cleaning this mess I call an apartment. Dad and Nola are coming down tomorrow to bring me a new computer (since mine got the BSOD x 2.... not a good thing). I think I will be too busy most of the night to think about the movie (..... yeah right... who am I kidding??)

I'm not obsessed.... well, maybe a little....

Since I finished reading the books, I can't stop thinking about them! It's a little scary actually. I spent those two weeks living vicariously through Bella Swan, and now all I can do is keep wishing Matthew would turn into Edward, and everything I hear or see I can relate to Twilight. Poor Matthew is so annoyed with me! I'm sure he will get over it eventually, but he will definitely have to wait a couple of months after the movie is released....

I think the reason I am so in love with these books is because of the story of true love between Edward and Bella. It is every girl's dream to find a man that will risk his life for her, and love her truly and unconditionally. We want to be the damsel in distress who finds her prince charming, and this is exactly what happens in these books. Edward says all the right things at all the right times, and is the perfect example of what a man should be to the woman that he loves. It has actually made me reassess my relationship with Matthew (as sad as that may seem). Luckily, I have come to the conclusion that Matthew is not that far off from Edward, and he even has some of the better properties of Jacob as well (2 for 1!). So here is why Matthew is my Edward(or Jacob):
  1. He is pale, and has fangs. I know Edward doesn't have fangs, but at least give me that much lol.
  2. He does sweet random things that remind me why I fell in love with him in the first place. Exhibit A is the beautiful bouquet of roses he brought home for me this weekend when I was in a sour mood. He also leaves me cute voicemails when he goes to lunch. It's no "take care of my heart I've left it with you" but it will do.
  3. He is absolutely in love with me, and I'm pretty sure that he would do whatever it would take to keep me safe, even battle a hoard of vampires if so necessary. Also, he has already told me that he refuses to live without me. (it's scary actually, but for this purpose it pushes him towards the Edward side....)
  4. He is always running a temperature. He just naturally runs hotter than the regular 98.1. He isn't quite a "toasty 108.9" but I would be scared out of my mind if he ran that kind of a temperature.
  5. He is fuzzy.. at least when he doesn't shave he kinda looks like a wolfman.
Alright, so these may not be the best, and Matthew may not be an Edward, but he is mine and that is enough for me (for the moment at least :D )

In summary, I really enjoyed this book series (as if that wasn't obvious already). Curiosity made me start reading them, but the story kept me interested. I have a pretty short attention span when it comes to books, and it really says something when I can get through a book in less than 24 hours.

Almost Friday!

Let's see... where to begin.... Tuesday, Matthew and I went to Frankfort. He took Travers to see The Dark Knight and I took T to work and made dinner for my Mom and my sister Chelsea. Mom seemed pleased to not have to cook dinner since she had to work all day. We had some delicious tacos, and then we just sat around until the guys came back. Travers loved the movie and it was cool that they got to hang out for a little bit. Matthew and I brought my stepsister Whitley back to Lexington with us. She lives in Maryland with her mom, and is visiting for a couple of weeks. She stayed the night with us and then babysat with me on Wednesday. We went to the movies and saw Surfs Up then had lunch at McDonald's and then played at Kid's Place. Amanda was there too with the kids she watched. They all played together great and had a lot of fun. I took Whitley back yesterday and ended up going to church with Mom. I hadn't been in a while (I know.... I know....) and I couldn't believe how much the youth group has changed! Last time I was there, there were a ton of kids and they spent the entire time talking and such. It was so aggravating because there were kids there for the right reason, but couldn't truly enjoy the Word of God because of all the distractions. The group has now shrunk down to maybe 20 kids, and there is a new Youth Pastor. I think he is doing an awesome job in completely changing the lives of the youth. Anyway, it was good to see everyone. Today, I got up early to go to work, only to get there and find out they don't need me until 3! I mean, wow... oh well. Jackson's dad texted me a little bit ago and told me he wouldn't need me at all today, so at least I got the day off :) I'm doing laundry now and just hanging out. Amanda and I are leaving tomorrow afternoon to go to the lake to meet my Dad and family. They are already down there, and they got a trailer on a hill above a marina close to Cumberland Lake. We are both totally excited!!!!
