It's La Push baby, La Push

A few weeks ago Matthew and I hauled ourselves onto an airplane (me for the first time in, like, 12 years!) to visit friends in Washington.  This is a huge deal because I absolutely hate flying. But, I pulled myself together, without the help of heavy liquor I might add, and we made the trip.  Besides the dreaded flight we had a really good time!

We started out at Lindsay's parent's lake house.  We spent a few days there and enjoyed her dad's delicious cooking (rotisserie chicken, bbq, and copper river salmon. yum!).  I got quite the tan hanging out on their little island and Matthew got a workout tubing behind the jet boat.  It was definitely a fun time for all!

A few days into the trip, Lindsay, her mom Anita, and I went on a girl's trip and left the guys at the cabin.  We took the Mustang convertible and drove all over the Washington Peninsula.  Our first stop was an adorable cafe called "cafe garden" in Port Angeles.  We wanted to eat at the Italian restaurant in Twilight but it didn't open until later in the day. Regardless, the food was delicious!

After Port Angeles we went to visit Hurricane Ridge.  The view of the mountains was amazing! We even got to see (and touch!) snow... in August! Can you believe it? At times we could also see Canada.

From Hurricane Ridge we went to La Push. We saw the Quileute reservation and played in the ocean where Jacob first told Bella of his tribe's legends.  As cool as that is, the water was even cooler... literally! It had practically just melted off a glacier so it was really really cold.

The first night of our "girl's trip" was spent in Forks in a Twilight-themed hotel room. There really wasn't much to see in Forks since most of the movie was filmed in Canada. However, from a book perspective it was neat.

The next day we hit a few more beaches (Ruby beach which I LOVED and Kalaloch) and Lake Crescent (which Lindsay jumped into, fully clothed).  We also went to Quinault and hiked through the rainforest.  Apparently it is the only temperate rainforest in the world.

Later that night we reunited with our men.  We spent the rest of the trip near Seattle at Lindsay and Nate's apartment.  We had dinner one night at the jazz club/restaurant where their wedding reception will be in October.  We also spent a morning in downtown Seattle visiting Pike's Place and having coffee at the first Starbucks.

I'd like to say that after such an adventurous trip our flight home was uneventful but I sadly cannot.  Our flight out of Seattle to Detroit was full of turbulence.  Once we got to Detroit we were told our flight had been canceled and because it was weather related Delta wouldn't cover hotel costs.  The next flight to Louisville was scheduled for 8am the next morning so we spent the night at the airport.  It.was.miserable! On top of that, it took forever to find which gate we needed to be at.  Our new boarding passes didn't show it and it didn't pop up on the flight screens.  We FINALLY were able to find an employee to point us in the right direction only to find that the flight was delayed for three hours. Ugh! We finally made it home, though.  Now it is back to work and routine. Oh well, vacation was fun while it lasted!

Again.

It's that time of year again.

Yep.

Time to get tickets for the midnight showing of Eclipse!!!

What, that wasn't what you were expecting??  What planet are you from then?!

Ha ha, I kid. Sorta :D

I went today and spent WAY too much money, but I got tickets. And not just any ordinary tickets. My theatre is showing Twilight and New Moon before Eclipse. SQUEEEE!!!  So starting at 7:15 pm on June 29th, Matthew, the Bestie, her bf, and I will have our butts planted in a movie theater seat (poor guys never had a chance!). I'm so very excited!

I gotta feeling...

that tonight's gonna be a good night!!

The bestie and her bf are coming over tonight. We have a frozen pizza, chips and queso, and monkey bread to enjoy while we watch Twilight. After that, we are headed over to the theater to see NEW MOON!!!!! I am ecstatic! I cannot believe it is already here :) The counter on my page finally says "0 days" and I am sooo ready! I have a little paper to write and I have to go to work and clean and make monkey bread, but I'm hoping to squeeze in some New Moon reading today. I just love it!

What about you? Are you as excited as I am?

Bella: New Moon Phase

So I hit the clumsy part early last week... now I'm in the crying stage. I don't cry very often, but I have found myself in tears for the past three days! Not because I have been hurt, but mainly because of stress and worry for my cat George

p.s. He is ok by the way, it's just the "he's getting old now" kind of worry
p.p.s Watching Marley and Me earlier today didn't help...

I hope this passes soon. I'm an emotional trainwreck (almost literally). However, I do hope the... um... breaking dawn phase hits soon ;) hahaha

Bella Complex

I do not know what is going on with me, but the past couple of days I have been especially clumsy. I can't tell you how many times I have dropped things (cell phone, purse, jacket, umbrella, etc.), knocked things over (especially off of my bathroom sink), and tripped/slid (over shoes, clothes, completely flat surfaces... ). I have never been especially graceful, but my goodness it's not usually this bad. Maybe it is all the buzz about New Moon and all the wonderful pictures of the cast that have me a flustered. My subconscious must be trying to turn me into Bella so as to attract a hunky vampire. What do you think?

Also, congrats to Brahmin in Boston for her 100th post!!!!!

It's almost here

Tomorrow is my birthday! I'm kind of excited, kind of not. I turn 22 this year, which seems pretty surreal. I feel like I'm actually an adult, but I still want to be kid. Whatev... plenty of time for an identity crisis after this weekend.

I wanted to say that Matthew has well made up for the concert incident. How did he manage that you may ask? Well, he bought me the greatest early birthday present I could have asked for. (p.s. Not that I require him to buy me things when he makes me mad... He did it on his own). I do not know many guys secure enough in their relationships to give such a wonderful gift! I got the picture from amazon.com.

Yes. He bought me Edward!!!!!! How awesome is that! I feel like one of those creepy stalkerish fangirls, but I don't really care. It was pretty cool of Matthew to do this :) So What do you think?

The bestie is throwing me a party this evening. I'll try to take some pictures if I get a chance. So excited!

Shopaholic

*My first post of this didn't come out right (It cut off my last couple of sentences) Sorry! I think I fixed it though*

Ok, so I'm not really a shopaholic in that I do not constantly make purchases of things that I do not need racking up mounds and mounds of debt at the same time. However, I do like to shop when I have the money to do so. I just so happened to have a little extra cash, and a dire need for shoes (what can I say? Shoes are the best things to shop for because they ALWAYS fit). Matthew and I headed out to the mall this morning, and I found some glorious treasures :)

The shoes are super cute, and are acutally comfortable. I really needed a pair of black heels. They look fabulous on as well... so good in fact, that I got them in brown too! I don't shop very often, so I feel it's ok haha

The book is quite interesting. I've just read the first chapter, but it is very well written. I'll write a review once I finish it (that shouldn't take long). The biggest discovery today, though, was the Sweethearts "Forbidden Fruits" candy. It is Twilight themed :) There are three different boxes. I got the first one with the entire cast. One has Edward on it and the other Bella. Some of the pieces even glitter! They say things like "Dazzle" and "I heart EC" and "Bite Me." The flavors are listed as "Orange Obsession" "Tempting Apple" "Passion Fruit" and "Secret Strawberry." I will let you know how they taste once I'm brave enough to open them :)

The Nerve!

I am not a violent or confrontational person... like, at all. So when something makes me want to reach across, say, a Wal-Mart check-out counter and strangle someone, you know it's a big deal.

I went to Frankfort today to shop with my mom. I got some really cute tops and some odds and ends for the apartment. She needed to go to good ol Wally World, so we headed that way. While there, she picked up the Twilight Soundtrack. While checking out, the woman behind the counter held up the cd and said "You know they are coming out with the second part to this in two months." Mom and I looked at eachother with very confused expressions.

Strike #1.

I kindly corrected her saying the second part does not come out until November. She... argued... with... me. Unbelievable. I then told her that the DVD comes out at the end of this month. She said "oh, maybe that's it." Nah duh. Then she goes on saying that "they could have done better with that Edwin guy."

Strike #2 and #3 at the same time. Apparently she's that good.

Mom and I both say "Say what?" simultaneously. She says "yeah, when you read the book he is really hot, and that guy they picked to play him is not hot at all. They could have picked someone else."

Hell... no. She did NOT just go there! I wanted to scream at her that she was absolutely insane. She obviously had NO clue what she was talking about because she said his name wrong. Seriously, what kind of Twilight fan screws up "Edward." I simply said, "No...he's hot." and walked away. For evidence just give the previous post a peep. The nerve of some people! I bet she hasn't even seen the movie. What are your thoughts?

I must be dreaming!

While catching up on my Google Reader, I came across from the most recent post from Tia over at Clever Girl Goes Blog. I really really enjoy reading her blog. We both share our fluent language of sarcasm :) Anywho, today she posted what could possibly be the movie poster for New Moon, and I must say.... well, I can't really say anything for all the drool pouring out of my mouth. Holy crap it should be illegal!!! I'll let you see for yourself. What do you think??

Where is he?

Remember that poster that the bestie and I.. ummm.. borrowed? Well, the bestie and I decided to take pictures of that poster in weird places. You saw mine (it was kind of pathetic...). The bestie sent me hers yesterday with only one line in the email. It said:

"Edward in my BED!!! Beat that"

This left me speechless! Why didn't I think of that?! It's ok though. Matthew came up with a genius idea for when I get the poster back next week. Sorry, but you are just going to have to wait. It's so good that I can't risk sharing it! hahaha

p.s. I'm suppose to find out about UK's counseling program today in the mail. I swear I'm going to try and not tackle the mailman.... I'll let you know what happens!

It should be illegal

So I actually watched the Oscar's last night. I hardly ever watch it, and there was only one person that made me want to watch it this year.

Yep.... Robert Pattinson
Image from
here

I'm so not obsessed... (well, maybe a little).

There was just way too much sexy in one area. I didn't know Hugh Jackman was hosting (apparently I have lived in a cave for the past month or two). I think he did a very good job. He was funny, and he kept it clean which is really important. I'm not going to make this a long post, although I would like to know if anyone else noticed who was sitting behind Mickey Rourke? I certainly did! It was none other than.... Rob (of course!). I was very pleased with this. Nothing against Mickey, but I would much rather stare at Edward. haha

Borrow.... not steal....

The bestie and I always talk about how we have to be the most pathetic college students in the world. We are graduating in roughly 3 months, and have only been out to a bar once. We never do anything. We constantly desire to do something wild and spontaneous... we finally figured out how :)

First, I should mention that every week the campus plays popular movies for students for $1. This week, they are playing.... wait for it..... TWILIGHT!!!!! ::squeeeeeee:: It is playing Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and of course I'm going to both showings :)

To advertise, there have been posters in the student center. The bestie and I have been lusting after one of the posters, but they were all locked up behind glass (of course). Last week, we finally found one. It was taped to the front desk in our classroom. We decided that this was our chance for spontaneity. The bestie walked right up to the front of the lecture hall and grabbed the poster! So now we have Edward in poster form :) We have joint custody... I have him now and we will trade off on Thursday. Hahaha... I know it's pathetic that our big spontaneous act was stealing (uh... I mean borrowing without permission...) a poster. Oh well. I can guarantee that we will never forget it, and those are the best experiences to have :)

Take me to Dr. McSparkly

I have been sick ALL DAY LONG. It totally sucks. There is a stomach bug going around campus. I should have known I would end up with it when the ladies at work told me they had all been through it the week before. UGGGHH I hate being sick. I didn't go to class today because I don't want to spread it around. I'm pretty sure that my car won't make it up the mountain of ice that the snow plow kindly left behind my tires anyway. So here is my dilemna. I have to run participants tomorrow in the lab. As long as no one signs up for my times, no big deal. No... such.... luck. My time tomorrow if completely full. What am I suppose to do with that? No one will respond to my emails requesting they take my times. I'm scared to death I'm going to puke on the participants (and I'm pretty sure that will mess with the data... just a hunch). I'm so aggravated/sick/upset/tired.

So take me to Dr. McSparkly. I'm sure he would make me feel better :) or at least answer my emails...

I pulled a Bella

There are many things about Isabella Swan that I may be envious of. Her incredibly gorgeous and perfect vampire of a boyfriend being one (obviously).

One thing that I'm not so envious of, however, is her coordination and accident-prone-ness.

(Unless that gets me Edward, then I'm totally game)

I am not necessarily graceful, by any stretch of the imagination, but I can typically remain upright without too much effort. Today was another story. I was having lunch with Amanda and her aunt. I went to put something in my purse which was sitting on the floor next to me. I guess I reached a little too far, because next thing I know, the floor was getting closer to my face. I managed to catch myself in an attempt to fix the situation before anyone could see, but no such luck. The catch only helped soften my landing. The chair fell over, I ended up on top of it, one leg on the floor and one leg over the chair. I sat the chair up, then casually tried to climb under the table. How embarrassing!!! I know a couple of people saw, and one person laughed, and my ankle hurts a little bit, but it could have been much worse.

Where was my Edward to catch me?????? That's what I really want to know.

Some "us" Time

What better way to relax from a long day that hanging out on the couch with your honey? Matthew and I decided a couple of weeks ago to spend some "us"time together for a little bit each day.

What do we do during this "us" time you may ask?

Why, read Twilight of course! (c'mon... I know you saw that coming!)

We cuddled on the couch, and I read Twilight to him. We tried to read at least one chapter a night, and occassionaly we read two, but last night I read 5 chapters so we could finish it. Seriously, that book gets better and better each time I read it (up to 3 now...). He seemed to really enoy it. The only downside is I got him to see the movie with me again in an attempt to make him like it, and I failed. After reading (or listening to I guess you could say) the book, he was super critical of the movie for all the things they left out. Oh well.

Of course that wasn't the main reason for reading it. I really enjoyed that time we could spend together. I have gotten lost in the Twilight world many times, but this time I got to take him with me. We laughed together, and awwed together while we went through the complexities of first love and a romance like Edward's and Bella's. I'm excited to continue on through the rest of the journey, hand in hand with Matthew. Now, all I need is my copy of New Moon returned to me, and we will be good to go!

Sneaky... very sneaky

So it's the first full week of 2009, and my last full week of winter break. It really snuck up one me... and it sucks. Classes start on the 14th, but luckily I don't have classes on mondays, wednesdays, or fridays so my semester officially starts on the 15th. It will begin with a 9am class, and end around 3pm until a lab meeting that will most likely occur at 5pm.

Have we received an email about said lab meeting? no.

Will we receive one before the end of the week? not likely.

Will we receive it around 11pm on wednesday night? probably.

Good 'ol lab. Anyway, I have sooo much to do now! I have to buy my books ($261 for three classes!) to start. I also have to write my personal statement for grad school, write my essays for my application to EKU, and fill out the applications to the universities as well as to the individual programs! Deadlines are quickly approaching and will be here before I know it! I'm so lucky to have Amanda to do all of this with. I'm not sure I could do it without her.

Instead of focusing on all of the things I need to get done, I'd rather focus on the things to look forward to. For one, I'm going to a baby shower this weekend. I have already got my gift, and although I don't know the mom, I know the dad and grandma (although it is REALLY weird thinking of her as a grandma!). Also, HOUSE returns monday night at 8pm! I am so excited for it and have totally been going through withdrawal. But now I am off to do some more onling-window-shopping. I'm trying desperately to find a Twilight calendar that won't cost me $50-$100...

Who knew?

I have spent my evening gathering information, and like this poor little cat have found myself in a fishbowl. Yes, I'm applying for grad school. It totally sucks, and is soooo much harder than applying for undergrad. It truly did look a lot simpler than it actually is. I worked for about an hour trying to print off my information for the wonderful professors writing my letters of recommendations, and hunting for deadlines and application fees. Holy crap! This stuff is expensive! I just don't know how I'm going to keep everything organized. Any suggestions? I'm open to your opinions because the deadlines are only two or three months away! AAAAAHHHH
So much for a Christmas Break... sending in applications and fees, as well as writing a personal statement. I think I may lose my mind before it's all said and done (assuming I have much of one left after finals next week...)

P.S. I promised a Twilight movie post. I will make a more juicy, Edward-obsessed one later, but for now check out my other blog for a movie review if you really want to know :)

Sorry

I know I have many updates to make. I promise they are coming soon!

I woke up WAY too early this morning to finish a paper. What kind of professor makes a monster paper due the day before Thanksgiving break?!? Oh well, I finished it around 7 this morning, and I'm not due to campus until 9 so I'm passing the time at the moment. I will have a full post on Twilight the movie (OMG awesome!) but for now I am obsessed with the soundtrack, especially the song that Rob Pattinson (Edward) wrote, played, and sang.... totally melts me everytime!

Twilight-a-thon... kinda

OK, I failed....

I mean, what kind of fan can't continue a twilight-a-thon for more than a day? I have failed miserably (I wonder if Edward will ever forgive me???).

Anyway, I will blame my laziness on re-reading Twilight before I see the movie TOMORROW night **trying miserably to not squeal like a 13 year old girl**.... and also on the very chilly weather. What could be better than curling up under a nice fleece blanket with an awesome book while watching it snow outside? So in my defense, nature was against me and I was simply distracted by other things. Pitiful, I know, but it will have to do. Plus, it is my blog afterall, so if I happen to not make a post or two, what does it matter? lol

Enough about that for now... I have another "why my boyfriend is Edward" moment to share. This was just so good that I could hardly believe it was Matthew! So here goes...

While listening to the Twilight soundtrack (naturally) and stuck in horrible mall traffic:

Matthew: "Am I sparkling honey?"

Me: "Baby, the sun isn't out. It's way to cloudy for you to sparkle."

Matthew: "but.... you are my sunshine."

I mean, it doesn't get any better than that.... seriously.

Twilight-a-thon

Hello, my name is Kirsty, and I'm a twilight-a-holic.

Wow, I feel so much better. That first step was a doozy!

Now that that is out of the way, I feel better about my multiple Twilight related posts. Since I have so many already, I figured it wouldn't hurt to post Twilight every day starting today until I see the movie (and then multiple after that about the movie... naturally).

So where to start it all off??? I believe I will begin with the soundtrack that my amazing boyfriend purchased for me (perhaps that should equal another mark on the Edward List??? I'll think about it). I have been listening to it all week, and I actually believe that it helped me with studying for my Abnormal exam I had yesterday! Or maybe I'm just losing my mind... whatev. Anyway, I love most of the songs on the soundtrack, but I've decided to post my favorite one here. I have not been able to get it out of my head, so instead of trying to get rid of it I decided to give in... it's soooo much easier that way! Anyway, enjoy the video!
