Exhausted

I'm worn out!

I went to London today to visit with some of my mom's family. I had a blast, but it was definitely exhausting. I'll post pics after my stepdad sends them to me.

So the family officially knows now, and my mom was quick to post it on facebook! Who would have thought she would almost beat me to it!

OK, random and short post, but I'm tired and still have a ton of homework to do. Goodnight!

Pictures and more

It has been over 24 hours since Matthew proposed, and I'm still not sure it has sunk in yet! I have had fun putting together the wedding website all morning though (even though we haven't set a date, venue, theme, colors, etc. haha).

I promised pictures, so here you go :)

So what do you think? Did he do good? My dad took some of us together last night, but I can't get a hold of him to email them to me. I'll put them up when I get them. I took these with my phone, and they turned out better than my camera pics did...

I am so happy right now, but there is one thing bothering me. That one thing is known as my sister.

I knew she was upset because her friends were getting engaged and she isn't. Well, when Matthew proposed, I wanted to tell my family. I knew she would be a little bummed, but I had hoped she would be ok or at least put on a happy face for me (I would have totally faked happy for her and hidden any sadness, etc, just for her sake). I was wrong. She ended up leaving, crying. She did not want me to tell my dad, Nola, and my stepsiblings because she "didn't want to hear about it all day" since she went up there today. She canceled plans we have had for two months to help Nina put up a Christmas tree because she "can't handle the excitement right now, it's just too much." I understand how she is feeling, but she is "raining on my parade" so to speak. I'm telling family on Sunday, and she will be there. I want to be the excited blushing bride I am expected to be, but I don't want to have her fussing every time someone brings it up. I want her to be happy for me, and I do not want to have to put up with her "it's all about me, my life sucks" attitude for the next year. Any advice? I don't know what to do....

Thankful

First, I want to apologize for not giving my Wed. Hotness post as promised yesterday... I'm horrible, please forgive me...

Now that that is out of the way...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know I did. I have sooo much to be thankful for. I am thankful for a loving and caring God who blesses me on a daily basis, even when I don't deserve it. I'm thankful for my friends, both here with me and my wonderful bloggy friends. I'm thankful for my huge, but fantastic family which is continuing to grow. I am thankful for a beautiful day to spend with Matthew, his family, and my family.

I have been concerned over the past few weeks that this holiday season would be miserable. The main reason for that is I have not had a holiday season without George since I was 7. Putting up the tree tomorrow and finding the ornament I made with his pawprint years ago is going to be hard. Luckily, Matthew has made it so that I will never look back on this season with only sadness. He has given me something to look forward to.

This morning, he took me to Cove Springs before going to his parents for dinner. We walked down one of the trails to the same place we shared our first kiss. After re-enacting that kiss, he grabbed my hand and said "well, since I have you here..."

He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I couldn't answer at first. He stood up, and I just grabbed him in a big hug and cried! Of course I said yes. We could hardly get the ring on my finger because he was so nervous and I was too busy crying. It was the perfect moment and the perfect proposal; even better than I imagined it! It was also so much fun telling our families!

In case you are wondering, he did get THE ring :) The same one I posted about earlier. I LOVE it! I will put pics up a little later.

I still have some family to tell on Sunday, so if we are friends on facebook, please do not put anything on there until I do. I want to surprise them, and they are on fb.

So tell me about your Thanksgiving. How was it? How much time did you spend in a turkey-induced coma? haha No matter what you did, I hope it was a fantastic day :)

Issues

I know, I know...

I didn't post yesterday.

Man this crap is harder than I thought it would be!

My excuse is weak, but is an excuse nonetheless. Matthew has disconnected my desktop so he could use my monitor, keyboard, and mouse to fix another desktop. Right now, I'm using his laptop. I miss my computer! But that is it. I feel weird using his computer, but I had to give in!

For today, I have some buckeyes in the fridge and a pumpkin pie in the oven. The buckeye recipe is one I have had for four years or so and is usually a hit. I have to wait another hour before I can cover them in chocolate. The pie is a new recipe I got from my WW group leader. It is homemade filling, but a store-bought crust. If it turns out good, I will post the recipe on here.

Later today, I will have another post with the return of Wednesday Hotness :)

Remember Me

I went to see New Moon again tonight.

(For anyone keeping count, yeah, that is 3 times, and also $21.50 I will never get back, but do NOT regret spending...)

One thing I forgot to mention after seeing it on Friday night was my theater showed a preview for RPattz new movie, Remember Me. I saw it on MySpace a few days ago, but was ecstatic to see it on the big screen (especially since I never saw a preview for New Moon in the theaters). It popped up again tonight, and the Bestie was happy because she had not seen it yet.

So, have you seen this trailer yet?

I am super excited. RPattz looks super good in it, even if he does get his butt kicked. If I am correct, it comes out on Valentine's Day (as does the Taylor2 movie "Valentine's Day"). I wonder which one will do better? At least for that day, I will def. be Team Edward :)

Down

I don't really feel like posting today..... so enjoy a YouTube video instead lol

I am totally in love with this song. It is one of those songs that I have to turn all the way up and sing at the top of lungs to when I'm in the car. I feel sorry for anyone within hearing range, but at least they get a good laugh at it :)

Right around the corner

Can you believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday?!?

Where did the year go? I've been working on Christmas shopping (yeah, I know, hiss hiss growl) but still have a LONG way to go. I guess that is what happens when you have one sister, four step-sisters, and three-stepbrothers.

I took mom to see New Moon again last night. Our showing was at 10:55, and we got to the theater around 8:30. At least we were first in line! She really liked it, and I'm pretty sure it just gets better and better :) Unfortunately, I can't afford to see it more than once or twice a week lol

So now that it has been out a couple of days, have you seen it? If so, what did you think?

One Word

I just got back from seeing New Moon. Since I know I have at least one loyal reader who will not see it until Saturday, I am not going to post any details. Instead, I would like to leave you with one word about the movie....

AMAZING!!!!

I gotta feeling...

that tonight's gonna be a good night!!

The bestie and her bf are coming over tonight. We have a frozen pizza, chips and queso, and monkey bread to enjoy while we watch Twilight. After that, we are headed over to the theater to see NEW MOON!!!!! I am ecstatic! I cannot believe it is already here :) The counter on my page finally says "0 days" and I am sooo ready! I have a little paper to write and I have to go to work and clean and make monkey bread, but I'm hoping to squeeze in some New Moon reading today. I just love it!

What about you? Are you as excited as I am?

Rants and Lurkers

Today was my first day back at work after giving the doctors my resignation on Monday. I was not sure what to expect, but I soon figured it out when I walked in the office. I'm sure I have mentioned it before, but I work for two doctors. The one doctor, we will call her Dr. A, is the one I do the most work for. She is also the one I talked to on Monday. Well, I think Dr. A is throwing a fit about me quitting and wants to make my life as miserable as possible for the next two weeks! Before I quit, she was so nice and motherly. Now, I feel like everything she asks of me is a command. I came in to find about five notes left telling me to do things (some of which I had already done!). Apparently she has been short with everyone else in the office as well. I'm not sure what is going on, but I must have really pissed her off something terrible! The other doctor, Dr. B, came in to talk to me today. He was very nice, saying he wishes he could talk me out of it, but respects that I have to make decisions for myself. He said he really appreciates everything I have done, and appreciates that I am trying to help them out by finding a replacement. He said he didn't think it was my personality to leave them in a bind. It was very thoughtful, and made me feel a little better. At least I have one doctor's support! I won't handle Dr. A treating me poorly though. I can handle the notes, but if she says something I may not be the nice sweet person they think I am haha

On to another topic now.. feeling random today :)

I realized I have not done anything fun for NaBloPoMo, with the exception of a few YouTube videos and a cd review (btw, what did you think of track 7??? I'm dying to know!). So today, I want to change that. I know there is an official "de-lurking" day sometime, but I don't know when that day is.... so I'm making it today!

(cause I'm just awesome like that)

(jk, I'm not as full of myself as that sounded...)

So here is the deal. If you follow my blog, leave me a comment. Come out from under that newspaper. I promise I won't bite! I also promise to return a comment on your blog. See, it's a two-way street around here! So come on now... stop lurking and show some love. I bet you will be happy you did!

I did it.

After days of literally making myself sick with worry, I finally put in my two weeks notice. I was suppose to meet with one of the doctors at 2, but she is always late. Around 2:30, she finally finished with her clients, then decided she wanted to go get lunch! I did not get to tell her until almost 3. She came in, and I told her I had good news and bad news. Of course, she wanted the bad news first. So I told her I was resigning, and that my school work is suffering. I told her I overestimated my abilities, but that I have talked to a couple of classmates who are interested in the job. I also made sure she knew that I am willing to do whatever it takes to make the transition as smooth as possible. She looked like her little world had exploded! I felt so bad seeing how it affected her. I couldn't tell if she was upset or mad. I figure after a day or so to think it over and talk about it with the other doctor, things should be better by Wednesday. I have two classmates interested, so hopefully I can get them interviews for next Wednesday and training on the 30th. Voila, I train a replacement and they don't go a single day without an office manager. Now I just have to cross my fingers that it actually works out that way!

Oh well. The hardest part is over now. The rest of the day went ok. Now I have to go write papers. Fun stuff!

Today is the day

I seriously think I could puke. I feel so sick knowing what I have to do today. I keep trying to tell myself it will all work out, but I can't get rid of this feeling. At least my weigh-in tonight should go well since I don't think I can eat ANYTHING! Ugh... I'll let you know how it goes....

This Is Us

You all know how big of a BSB fan I am. I have all of their main albums, from their first to the most recent release, This is Us. I will admit I had high hopes for this album because their last two albums, Never Gone and Unbreakable were amazing.

This is Us was initially a big disappointment. It wasn't until I listened to it multiple times that I really started to like it. It is probably my least favorite album, but that does not mean it is bad. I think they are trying too hard to sound like the more popular musicians, and the sound is not their style. This album is full of techno beats, which are fun to dance to, but it just does not fit their sound.

My favorite "techno" tracks on the album are 1. Straight Through My Heart, 5. If I Knew Then, and 8. Masquerade. The last two tracks are the easiest to listen to. I feel they are the most BSBish, and you can really enjoy the vocals.

My least favorite track is 9.She's a Dream. The lyrics really get me in this one. They say "shorty" way too much, and I just think they are trying too hard.

If you want a preview, click this link right here for a 30 second clip of every song. Even if you don't want to preview the whole thing, you really should listen to track 7. PDA, at least for a good laugh. Listen, and then you will understand.

Not Again!!!

OK, I didn't post yesterday.

In my defense, I was in Indiana all day yesterday, and never once got on a computer. Matthew and I came home last night, but I was exhausted so I went straight to bed. So to make up for it, you get two posts today. Lucky you! hahaha

For today's first post, I would like to share a weigh-loss milestone. I hit the 20lb mark a few weeks ago. It felt amazing to reach that mark, but also a little scary that I had all of that to lose (and then some!). I'm almost halfway to my big goal, so I still have a little while to go. Although ecstatic to have lost 20lbs, I could not really tell until yesterday. (of course my clothes were looser, and I noticed a few changes, but I guess I didn't realize just how much of difference 20lbs made).

Nola and I went shopping while my dad and Matthew went to Best Buy. Basically, I just stood in the dressing room and she threw clothes to me. It was loads of fun! I knew that pants-wise, I can fit in a 10 which is a loose fit, but the 8 is too tight. I tried on a ton of pants of different sizes, and I could actually button the 8s! I didn't buy any of them because they were still a little snug, so i ended up with a pair of jeans and two pairs of dress trousers in size 10p. They are the perfect length for me (which is really hard to find) and I think they look great, and will look even better as I lose more weight.

The highlight for my day, though, was trying on tops. I found this one adorable top, so I grabbed it in a medium. When I put it on, it was a little too big. Nola found it in a small, and it fits perfectly!!! The last time I wore a "small" top was in high school! It is an amazing feeling to be wearing smaller clothes, especially sizes I have not been in since high school/early college. I can't wait to see where I will be at this time next year :)

Trip

Tonight, Matthew and I are making a trip to see my dad and Nola. We literally decided to go around 3:30 today, but I really need to go. He is currently in Frankfort working on computers, and I have no clue when he will be home, but whenever that is is when we will leave. So right now I'm working on paper 1 of 4 due next week (eeeks!!) and hoping to get at least this one finished tonight. It is my cultural paper (Thanks Raji!!!) and it isn't difficult. I would rather be doing something, anything, other than homework though lol.

I'm feeling really sick over this job situation. I want to talk to Nola because she always has an honest opinion and will tell me what I NEED to hear, not necessarily what I want to hear. It isn't often that I actually need that, but right now is one of those times. I almost feel like I am spending so much energy on making sure other people are happy that I don't have enough left for myself. Does that make sense? Oh well.

At least I will get more pics of Oscar this weekend :) I'll be sure to post whatever I do take. I bought him another toy yesterday (as if the dog doesn't have enough!) and I can't wait to watch him play with it!

Alright, enough procrastinating. I need to finish this paper!!!

PS Less than a week until we see lots of shirtless hunks New Moon!!!

Help Needed

It's been a while since I posted an lolcat. What is wrong with me??!!

Anywhoodle, I called my old boss today and discussed going back to work at the state. She called me back about an hour ago and told me I could come back. Yay! So now for the part I need help with. What in the world do I say to my current bosses??? They had wanted me to sign something saying I would stay for a year, but I have not signed ANYTHING for them that was anywhere near contractual. I am pretty sure I have a replacement, so hopefully that will help, but I'm kind of freaking out. I feel like overall this is the best move, but the path to get there really sucks. I don't want to disappoint my bosses, but I really feel like this other person can do a better job. I'm also wondering what happens if this other person decides she doesn't want the job after she sees everything involved with it. Ugh! Help me please!! I'm totally stuck between these two jobs...

*Smiles*

OK, so first I want you to know I am feeling TONS better. Second, sorry for yesterday's downer post!!!

So what is making me feels TONS better? I knew you were going to ask that! It's like ESP or something :)

After cursing at my computer/desk/chair/lamp/office today, I really really really wanted to quit my job. I was/am miserable there, and I figure I job that is dreaded is not a good one to have. I know of a person or two who are so desperate for jobs that they would gladly take this one off my hands (which is great because I can't just quit... I have to find and train a replacement!). The only problem is that I need the money.

(Yeah, remember back a while ago when I said something about wanting to be "independent" and "pay my own bills"? Why didn't someone smack me?)

So I have been racking my brain trying to come up with another way to make money that would make me happy. Then it hit me! My summer job with the state was a temp position. Temp positions have flexible hours..... so yeah. I'm going to call my old boss tomorrow and see if they need me. I figured I can work Mondays and Thursdays since I do not have class until 4, so I could work 8-2 (It takes approximately 40 minutes to get between Frankfort and Lexington, and I want to have plenty of time for traffic and getting my stuff together, etc.). I can also work all day on Fridays since I do not have class. This job is great because I can work, but take breaks when needed. If I have nothing to do, they don't care if I read or study. It is the only job I have had that I never wanted to quit.

(well, you know, except for the occasional moments, and those were strictly circumstantial)

(like when the scanner would decide to jam 3/4 of a way through scanning a 200 page double-sided document and I would have to start over... but like I said.. strictly circumstantial)

If this works, I can quit my current job and end up making a ton more money. Plus, when the semester is over in roughly 5 weeks, I will not have to worry about a job over break. Also (it just keeps getting better doesn't it?) if I do not land a TA position for the spring, I will have a back-up job. I can't really see any negatives to this except for talking to my current bosses. That will suck. But other than that, it's all rainbows and sunshine! hahaha

I also started going back to church today. I didn't realize how much I missed it! I'm just hoping this good mood can last! I have a couple of papers to write tonight, so I need to keep riding this energy for a few more hours!

P.S. This time next week, I will be headed out to the movie theater to watch New Moon!!!! SQUEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight

It has been a very long, emotional, and draining day. I hope to dig a little deeper into that later, but not tonight. For now, I'd like to just post some random thoughts and see where I can go with it later.

  1. I am still really bothered with the Fort Hood massacre. I feel like I should do something, but I don't know what that something is.
  2. I have realized that I need to be more independent. I rely on the Bestie way too much, and I think that is hurting our friendship. It is a lot to think about.
  3. Sometimes there are no solutions to problems, and talking things out really only make it worse. Who knows...
  4. I need to re-prioritize myself and my life. Oh boy what fun that will be.
I think that is enough for one night. Sorry for the downer post, but sometimes I just need to type what I'm feeling. I'm sure you all understand :)
