Top 5 Thursday

Meghan over at The Perfect Compilation Tape does a special on Thursdays known as "top 5 Thursdays." I'm not sure why but I'm in the mood to do my own list today, so here goes!!

Top 5 voices I could listen to all day long:

5. Jay Sean- His voice is so smooth and well, he isn't too bad on the eyes either!

4. Josh Turner- I LOVE his super deep voice.  Gives me shivers!! Not too bad to look at either...

3. The Backstreet Boys- big duh on this one! These men rock and sound amazing! The great part is they can harmonize just as beautifully as if they were singing solos.  Love it! And did I mention they're hot? I'm starting to see a trend here...

2. Chris Daughtry- His rocker vibe and scratchy voice just make me swoon! He totally rock the eyeliner by the way... and I would know!

1. Adam Levine - Not really sure I can offer an explanation here.  His voice is so unique and his range is unbelievable! I'm also really digging this new song :)

So who's on your list???

Good Morning!

I'm up finishing a paper that is due in two hours. I have ZERO motivation. It's going to be a long morning!

However, not all is lost.  With catchy jams like this one, surely I can get my butt in gear. Enjoy :)

It's not what I didn't feel, it's what I didn't show

I have had the most amazing night! The day was just ok, but tonight was much needed. Matthew and I got up early this morning to meet with our pastor. Can you believe we have less than a week left?! I surely can't! Anywho, we did that and then went back to the apartment to move some more stuff. I swear it feels like we get stuff out and we come back and even more crap has taken the place of what we just moved out! It's almost over though. We had to make two trips between Lexington and Lawrenceburg to move stuff and even enlisted the help of my stepdad and Matthew's dad. The fun part was after all of that when we headed out to Applebee's Park in Lexington to see Maroon 5 in concert :) There were two opening acts who I did not recognize (Mings and VV Brown). Kris Allan was also an opening act. He did pretty well! Maroon 5, though, was definitely the star of the show. Our seats were awful (they were the very first section at the stadium which just happened to face right into the side of the stage. Ugh) so we spent most of the openers on a picnic table in a sitting area above our seat section. Part of the way through Maroon 5, though, we decided to head out to the field in front of the stage. There were so many people down there but it was a blast. We were all singing and dancing and taking pictures. AMAZING! I have unbelievable video and some pretty decent pictures as well which I cannot wait to share, but again I have yet to find my cables. Sorry loves for keeping you waiting!!

So how did your night go?

Updates.

Hi all!!

I know you have been just SSSOOOO concerned about me since I haven't posted in forever. Well, I'm just fine. Actually, better than fine. Apparently it really IS possible to be happy and busy at the same time. Who would have thunk it?!

Anywho, a lot has been going on around here so I'm not really sure where to start. I guess the big thing is that I went back to work this week. I'm back at the state, but it was not without sacrifice. The employees were told there would be no summer help this year, and then I show up. I've already had a few conversations with nosy/annoying coworkers about that. Oh well. Also, since I'm the only summer help I'm split up between two different branches. The past two days have felt like custody hearings while the two branch managers decide my fate. The ultimately decided that I would alternate days so I'm at one branch for three days out of the week and the other for two days, and then it switches the next week.

Confused yet?

Yeah, me too.

Regardless, I am still incredibly happy to be back there. I love having a set schedule and I'm really good at the work they give me. All in all I have no room/reason to complain.

Let's see.... what else?  Oh yeah, we booked our honeymoon! Matthew's parents paid the deposit (and are talking about covering the rest of it) for a cruise :) We are going to Cozumel and Calica on Carnival Elation (Krysten, if you're reading this, thanks for your cruise posts. They were a HUGE help!). His parents did not get a honeymoon, so it is very important to them for us to have one. They are seriously the sweetest people ever, cruise or no cruise.

The last big news is that Matthew and I are talking about buying a house. We have looked online at a few, but haven't actually made any calls. Of course I'll do my best to keep you posted :)

I guess that's the big stuff for now. Overall it has been a nice break. I've done some shoe shopping, watched season 2 of TrueBlood (which Matthew surprised me with when it came out a few weeks ago) and done some zumba :)

I have a few more posts to write for you. I realized the other day that my concert post was severely incomplete. I'm also hoping to be able to add another one to it before the wedding, but I'll have more information about that tomorrow. Of course, though, since I've bored you with this really long update post, I suppose I can give you some hints ;)

Concert Fun

Alright, so things have been a little dark here at LLA lately, so it's time to lighten it up a little!

I was thinking the other day about my music collection, and how totally random it is. I got to thinking about all the concerts I've been to, and well, I'm not really sure what to say about the variety. So I'm going to let you do it :) I hope this is a fun idea....

  1. Clint Black
  2. Savage Garden
  3. Backstreet Boys (twice)
  4. Linkin Park (Didn't really care for the openers, Coheed and Cambria and some other group)
  5. Saving Abel (opener for Nickleback)
  6. *warning* Most of the good clean videos had embedding disabled (agh!!) so this is NOT the clean version of this song... sorry guys!
  7. Seether (opener for Nickleback)
So who have you seen in concert? I'm curious to know :D

Funk.

Two posts for the day! Gotta make up for my lack of recent posts somehow right?

Anywho, I guess I've been in a bit of a funk lately. I still have some school stuff to do, even though classes are over, which totally sucks. Regardless, I refuse to let it ruin my week. In the morning Matthew and I are heading out to Florida to visit some friends. I am soooo ready to get out of Kentucky and plant my butt on a beach :) So to help get myself in a better mood and give me some energy to finish getting ready, here are some summer jams I'm currently diggin :D

I hate it when embedding is disabled! You can watch the actual music video here :)

If you can't tell, I'm in a country music kick! Enjoy

Hello weekend!

Hi all!  I hope you had a good week. Mine was so-so. not bad, but not great, so I can't really complain :)

My cricut came in yesterday! I have to go to my dad's to pick it up this weekend. I can't wait to play with it! I also found a cartridge for it on clearance at Meijer a few days ago. Total score! We also ordered our invitations. They are super super cute. I'll be sure to post pics when we get them in June!

This afternoon I had to see a client so I was on campus. I totally didn't want to be there because it was cold, and it's Friday. Seriously, who wants to be on campus on a Friday?! So I was walking to the building from the parking structure, and I had my iPod going, when all of sudden, this song came on. All I could do was smile. Isn't it great when that happens?

Anywho, one more random thing then I'm done for the day. Krysten over at After 'I Do'  is hosting a giveaway! It is themed around some of her favorite things when she feels down. It is so personal and unique! So go over there and check it out :)

Have a good weekend!

Down

I don't really feel like posting today..... so enjoy a YouTube video instead lol

I am totally in love with this song. It is one of those songs that I have to turn all the way up and sing at the top of lungs to when I'm in the car. I feel sorry for anyone within hearing range, but at least they get a good laugh at it :)

This Is Us

You all know how big of a BSB fan I am. I have all of their main albums, from their first to the most recent release, This is Us. I will admit I had high hopes for this album because their last two albums, Never Gone and Unbreakable were amazing.

This is Us was initially a big disappointment. It wasn't until I listened to it multiple times that I really started to like it. It is probably my least favorite album, but that does not mean it is bad. I think they are trying too hard to sound like the more popular musicians, and the sound is not their style. This album is full of techno beats, which are fun to dance to, but it just does not fit their sound.

My favorite "techno" tracks on the album are 1. Straight Through My Heart, 5. If I Knew Then, and 8. Masquerade. The last two tracks are the easiest to listen to. I feel they are the most BSBish, and you can really enjoy the vocals.

My least favorite track is 9.She's a Dream. The lyrics really get me in this one. They say "shorty" way too much, and I just think they are trying too hard.

If you want a preview, click this link right here for a 30 second clip of every song. Even if you don't want to preview the whole thing, you really should listen to track 7. PDA, at least for a good laugh. Listen, and then you will understand.

NaBloPoMo???

A lot of the blogs I am following are doing NaBloPoMo this month. Since I am totally a follower and not a leader, I'm going to give it a shot. If I am clear, all I have to do is make a post every day this month. Think I can handle it??? I guess we will find out :) It should be an interesting adventure at the very least..

So, right now I have song stuck in my head (playing it on repeat through YouTube probably isn't helping). I don't know why, but I just can't get enough of it! It is Adam Lambert's new song. I'm not a huge fan of his, but let's face it... the dude can sing. I can't help but dance a little while listening to it. It is totally addictive. (Consider that the disclaimer. If you listen to it, you will probably be singing it ALL DAY LONG!)

doom doom doom da da

If you don't understand the title of this post, just give it a few minutes. Hopefully it will sink in very very soon :)

The university hosts a ton of events every year in an attempt to get students involved and socializing. Most of the time, I'm not interested. Most is definitely the keyword here. I just found out today that there will be a concert in December... If you recognized the title, then you know what I'm about to say.......

Boyz II Men!!! Are coming to campus!!! In December!!! For like, $40 for the best seats, $35 for the rest. Not too shabby :)

So now I'm texting and calling trying to find SOMEONE to go with me! Matthew doesn't like R&B type music, but he would go if I asked him to, but I don't want to do that to him... Any ideas?

As a sidenote, I wanted to post a video (of course) for you viewing/listening pleasure of the song I was referring to. After finding and watching said video and seeing how old school it is, I laughed then realized you all will probably think I'm a total dork... but hey, it wouldn't be the first time :)

Wednesday hotness

It is Wednesday which means the week is half over. yay! In celebration (or pure laziness) I looked to youtube for something incredible to share, and boy did I find it!

You all know now how much of a hardcore BSB fan I am.

(Don't judge me...)

This video did not get a lot of air time compared to the other video made for the same song. I'm not sure why they made two different videos for one song but I am certainly not complaining. I am, however, complaining about how Kevin rarely ever got the solo parts because he can certainly sing :)

Enjoy your Wednesday hotness. If you like it I may try to keep it up...

There's no life after you

I'm a day or so late with the good news... sorry.

The good news is that my "diet" is working! I have lost 3lbs in the past two weeks :) It isn't much, but it is healthy and I feel better about myself. I guess that is all that matters in the end.

OK, on to the really great news. Yep, there is even better news than that. Weren't expecting that were you?! Didn't think so :)

Daughtry's new CD, Leave This Town, came out yesterday. It...is...AMAZING! I have said it before, and I will say it again: My Daughtry-crush lives on! I have listened to it almost nonstop since I got it. There is just enough mix of fun rock songs with calmer, more soulful songs. It is just perfect. I can't even really pick a favorite. Oh yeah, did I mention that Chad Kroeger co-wrote two of the songs? Amazing I tell you. Also, this CD is just as family-friendly as the first one (read: no foul language, sex, drugs, etc.) So, if you haven't already, go listen to it here :) Look to the left under the image and click the link that says "Listen to Samples" for a 30second clip of each song. You won't regret it!

p.s. I got the image from the same link as the samples (Amazon.com)

What's in a name?

My job requires me to do the things that no else has time for and/or wants to do. I accepted this fact long ago, so it doesn't really bother me. Today, one of my coworkers asked me to make an order for him for some technical equipment. No prob. I called, and after talking to some idiots and playing phone tag, I finally got the person I needed to talk to. She was a little snappy with me, but I kind of expected as much and just ignored it. That is, until she said something that I could not believe. Here is the conversation:

her- "How do you spell your name? Is it C-H-R-I-S-I-E?"
me- "no, it is K-I-R-S-T-Y"
her- "ok, K-R-I-S-T-I-E"
me- "no, K-I-R-S..."
her- "hang on, I'm trying to spell it the way it should be spelled"
me- speechless

What the crap? The professional side of me decided to be the better person and not say anything, but the other side of me wanted to remark with either:

"Really, so would you like to tell me how it should be spelled because apparently I've been doing it wrong for the past 22 years"

or

"Well if you would shut up I'll tell you how it should be spelled."

I just couldn't believe it. I told my coworker about it, and he said she was usually rude. A little later he caught up with me and told me that she apologized. Apparently he kept thinking about what she said to me so he called her to confront her! I seriously work with some cool people.

Now on to something completely random, I found this and wanted to share, so enjoy :)

I can't help it

I have a confession to make...

I'm a total sucker for musicians. There is nothing more attractive to me than a man behind a guitar (except for Matthew of course... Love you honey!) I don't know why, but I really can't help it. I bring this up because I just watched Daughtry's new music video. My Daughtry-crush lives again! haha

Embedding was disabled for the video, but you can click this link to watch it. I can't wait until his new cd comes out next month :)

I don't know

This week was suppose to be fantastic. It was suppose to be the best week of my year so far. So tell me why I am home right now with puffy red eyes and very hurt feelings, and absolutely exhausted.

First the good. Yesterday was Matthew's and my anniversary. We have been together for three years (and one day). To keep with tradition, we went to the Melting Pot. We go there every year for our anniversary, as I have probably mentioned before (I can't remember, and am too lazy/tired to check). We got all dressed up, and drove to Louisville. Dad and Nola met us at the book store next to the Melting Pot that we really love. They ended up staying and having dinner with us. You might think it is kind of weird to have your parents with you for your anniversary dinner, but it was actually a lot of fun.

Now, for all the bad. This week was a disaster with my graduate school applications. I could not get a hold of anyone to help me out unti this morning. Luckily, the woman was very nice, and I was able to get all the information I needed. I am also very sleep deprived, which probably made the next situation a million times worse. As an anniversary present to Matthew, I bought us tickets to see Nickelback, Seether, and Saving Abel for tonight. The tickets were pricey, and it took two paychecks to pay for it. Our seats were in the upper level, but they were only three rows back from the front, and the section was right next to the stage, so it was decent. Saving Abel played first, and they were really good. There was hardly anyone sitting around us so we enjoyed it. About halfway through, though, people started filing in and we quickly became uncomfortable. The guys behind us were drinking and being very loud. The girl next to me kept elbowing me and hitting me with her hair. They were all also trying to dance while drunk (which was entertaining, but not very convenient in bleacher-like seating). After Seether performed, Matthew informed me that he wanted to leave. We hadn't even seen Nickelback yet, which was the whole reason for going in the first place. Since it was his present, I told him we could leave if he really wanted to... so we did. I am so disappointed for many reasons. First, I hate that he didn't enjoy himself. He was so happy last year when I got us tickets to Linkin Park, and I wanted nothing more than to see that huge grin on his face. Second, I really wanted to see Nickelback. Third, I spent money that I really didn't have on the gift, and it was a complete waste. Fourth, the idiots around us ruined the entire experience for us. I'm hurt because Matthew did not like the gift that I worked so hard to get for him. I had to lock myself in my room because I did not want to upset him with how upset I was.

So it's been a long disappointing week. I'm glad it's over, and I'm really hoping that next week will be better. My schedule is clear for the next couple of weeks, so hopefully I will have more time to post and respond to comments. Sorry this post is so long. I just really needed to vent.

Blast From The Past

Matthew and I made a Sonic run for a coke float and a strawberry real fruit slush when a song came on the radio. I couldn't help but turn it way up and sing along. I think this song came out when I was in middle school, and I totally have the cd. Haha, enjoy my flashback to the 90s :) I'm off to watch more of Camp Rock (I'm a dork... I know) and work on my grad school stuff.

*I can't post the video, but I'm going to post the link. Sorry!

Sorry

I know I have many updates to make. I promise they are coming soon!

I woke up WAY too early this morning to finish a paper. What kind of professor makes a monster paper due the day before Thanksgiving break?!? Oh well, I finished it around 7 this morning, and I'm not due to campus until 9 so I'm passing the time at the moment. I will have a full post on Twilight the movie (OMG awesome!) but for now I am obsessed with the soundtrack, especially the song that Rob Pattinson (Edward) wrote, played, and sang.... totally melts me everytime!

Twilight-a-thon

Hello, my name is Kirsty, and I'm a twilight-a-holic.

Wow, I feel so much better. That first step was a doozy!

Now that that is out of the way, I feel better about my multiple Twilight related posts. Since I have so many already, I figured it wouldn't hurt to post Twilight every day starting today until I see the movie (and then multiple after that about the movie... naturally).

So where to start it all off??? I believe I will begin with the soundtrack that my amazing boyfriend purchased for me (perhaps that should equal another mark on the Edward List??? I'll think about it). I have been listening to it all week, and I actually believe that it helped me with studying for my Abnormal exam I had yesterday! Or maybe I'm just losing my mind... whatev. Anyway, I love most of the songs on the soundtrack, but I've decided to post my favorite one here. I have not been able to get it out of my head, so instead of trying to get rid of it I decided to give in... it's soooo much easier that way! Anyway, enjoy the video!
