30-day, well, crap.

Now that I have a wedding to begin preparing for, I've decided I really need to buckle down on my weight loss. I have one more week of classes left before break, and then I'm off until mid-January. I no longer have school as an excuse to slack off!

I have heard a lot about this 30-day shred from Jillian Michaels (Biggest Loser). I read some reviews, and everyone says how amazing it is, etc. etc. Well, it was only 10 bucks at Meijer, so I got it. I planned to start it today, but woke up sick (again) so there went that plan. I feel like I have been doing the shred for a week, got hit by a truck, and trained for a triathalon all at the exact same time. Everything on my body hurts! I really hope it is just exhaustion and the change in weather and not the flu. I really can't be sick right now with term papers due next week.

So anyway, when I start the shred, I'll let you know how it goes. I'm terribly out of shape, so I imagine it is going to kick my butt, but I think that is exactly what I need. Maybe I'll just tape some pictures of wedding dresses above the television as inspiration? What do you think?

Finally Feeling Better

My meds seem to be working. My cough is still kinda bad, and I have been taking my cough syrup during the day for it, but I won't be able to do that tomorrow with work and class. Should be an experience lol

First, sorry my background was messed up yesterday! I was giving it some time to see if it corrected itself. Apparently it did, so I'm not going to mess with it right now. I'm looking around for a new template, but I don't think I will change anything for another week or so.

Second, I would like to address my one and only comment yesterday :) As counselors-in-training, we are taught that we should not counsel family and friends. It is one thing to use our attending skills (listening, asking questions, etc.) but there should be a line between our characters as family members or friends and as counselors. I don't know the situation with your friend, but from what we have learned, he should reconsider trying to be a psychiatrist to his family and go the father route instead. But like I said, I don't know the situation so that is just my opinion.

Third, I saw the CUTEST thing on tv today so I just have to share it. This dog is adorable! Apparently he is narcoleptic and can't breathe through his nose, so he tries to sleep sitting up. My favorite part is the very end when he shoots back up like "What? I wasn't asleep!" haha, enjoy! (PS, the video might take a minute to load. My suggestion is to hit the pause button, and when the light red bar is all the way across play. Otherwise it may play then stop then play then stop etc.)

Rant

I hope you are ready for it, cause boy do I have a big rant right now.

Today I gave in and went to the doctor. I have a sinus infection and the beginnings of bronchitis (surprise surprise) so he gave me a script for an antibiotic, a script for cough syrup, a sample of a nose spray, and recommended MucinexD. That is a lot of meds to take, but whatever gets this junk out of my system.

So Matthew and I went to Kroger to get my prescriptions filled. The lady said it would take about thirty minutes, so we went ahead and grabbed some stuff for dinner tonight. I paid for our groceries and went to get my medicine about half an hour later (like a good customer). My meds were not ready. She said "you have two of them right?" I answered yes, and she told me it would be a few more minutes. OK, whatevs. We walked around for a little bit longer until I decided it had been long enough. We went back up to the counter and she found my little white bag. I also had to get my Mucinex there (it must have that stuff in it like Sudaphed that people can make Meth out of or something cause you can't just get it off the shelf). It took a little time, but I finally paid for my stuff and we left. On the way home, I decided to make sure my insurance card was in the bag. That was when I noticed it.... they didn't give me my cough syrup! We had to turn around and go back. The lady wouldn't even look as us until she had to, and when I told her I didn't get my syrup she just stared at me like I was crazy! Apparently it wasn't ready yet, so we had to sit down and wait for it. I was sooo frustrated. She knew I had two meds to pick up, yet she only gave me one. I gave them the scripts at the exact same time with the cough syrup one on top as well! No excuse!!!! Also, the entire time we were waiting, this one women was being a total B to one of the other pharmacists in front of all of us customers. I really do not think I will every take my prescriptions back there!! So an hour and a half after dropping off my prescriptions, we finally made it out the door to go home.

I took the Mucinex (two horse pills) and then my antibiotic (one horse pill the size of the tip of my index finger). I still have another pill to take (one I have been taking regularly for a while now) and my cough syrup. I feel like a dealer!!! I also have to miss volunteering at the football game tomorrow. I'm disappointed, but I also have a bunch of school work to do. I think it will all work out in the end.

Sorry for the rant! Once I start feeling better I will have better posts. Pinky promise :)

Pulling out the heavy artillery.

What a time to get sick! I feel like all my posts lately revolve around my runny nose, and there is nothing I can do about it.

I called in to work today, skipped class, and canceled my babysitting job. There was just no way to do any of that in my condition. Maybe I'm just a wimp, but I'm sick so it is totally allowed.

I have been taking Dayquil since 9:30 last night. I hate the night stuff and I thought I would be able to go to work today, so I didn't want to take the heavy junk and risk sleeping through my alarm. Well, I've given up on that and moved on to Benadryl. This crap is sure to knock me on my butt. I took it about 20 minutes ago, so experience tells me I probably have another 15 minutes til I'm unconscious. Sorry, but here is my post for the day... see you all tomorrow!

P.S. Two weeks til New Moon!! Yay!!!

I'm giving in

I can't fight it anymore. I am officially sick. I have the sinus/sore throat/achy ears/runny nose/headache/sneezing/coughing plague. Yuck.

I hate being sick. What I hate even more than being sick is being a sick adult. At least when I was a kid and I got sick, there was someone there to take care of me! I have been home by myself for over 2 hours. Matthew won't be home for another 2 hours. That means I have to fend for myself! Nothing sucks worse when sick than having to get up and do crap. ugghhh! What I would give to be a kid again right now!

** time break.... about 2 hours passed.... **

So, to make myself feel better, I tried to upload a video I made of Oscar playing with one of his squeaky toys. He loves to make his toys squeak! So I tried to upload it directly on here, and it was taking forever. Matthew suggested I cancel and try again so I did. We left to get dinner, only to return home to a video that was still loading!! So in a last stitch effort, I have loaded the video onto my youtube account to post here. I took about 20 minutes to upload (OMG) and is now processing. Ugh!! I would like to finish this post and go to bed. I just took some sinus meds, and the bed is calling to me. So basically, you all better really really like this video!!!! (and even if you don't, please humor me and say you do! two hours of trying to load a video is insane amount of work. Lucky for you I am so dedicated to you all and this blog! And also that I'm a little groggy from medication, but whatevs.)

Yucky Day

What a fantastic start to my newest goal. Today has been pretty yuck for the most part.

First, the Bestie is still in a bad mood. I think I might have done something, but I have no clue. We go through these phases when we just get on each others nerves. I think we just need a few days apart, and all will be well later.

Second, I woke up with a sore throat! I'm not sure if I am coming down with something, or if it is due to my wisdom teeth coming in. I should really go to the dentist and get them pulled, but who can afford that right now! I'm hoping it is just my teeth because I can't afford to get sick right now. There is way too much going on with only a month or so left of classes.

Third, I'm afraid I'm getting pulled into something I would rather stay out of. There is a confrontation between some of my classmates, and I was there to witness it. Even today, they were trying to pull me to one side or the other. My response was simply that I would rather stay out of it and that it is between them. I just want to get my degree and be done. I don't want to make enemies, etc. It is so frustrating!!

Alright, so that is all I'm going to complain about right now. My classes went ok, and my counseling session went pretty well. I'm still getting use to the attending skills, but I really think I am getting better!

I'm off now to finish another paper and wait for Matthew to get home from class. I hope tomorrow is better!

Drugs are bad

The doctor prescribed cough medicine for me. You might be asking now "so?" and I'm going to tell you. This cough medicine has codeine in it... and it is my friend. I have slept soooo well the past two nights. It's amazing!!! The only problem is that I have to get up early for class, so I don't really get the chance to sleep it all off. So today at work I had problems keeping my eyes open. I sat at my desk doing whatever I could to stay awake. I'm facing the same issue now while doing homework and such (homework.... yeah right haha). From this I now bring you the "10 best things to say if you get caught sleeping at your desk." I got this in an email a year or two ago, and I wanted to share.

The 10 best things to say if you get caught sleeping at your desk:

10. "They told me at the blood bank this might happen."

9. "This is just a 15 minute power nap they raved about in the time management course you sent me to."

8. "Whew! Guess I left the top off the Whiteout. You probably got here just in time."

7. "I wasn't sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement and envisioning a new business strategy."

6. "I was testing my keyboard for drool resistance."

5. "I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work-related stress.. Are you discriminatory toward people who practice Yoga?"

4. "Darn! Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out how to handle that big accounting problem."

3. "Did you ever notice sound coming out of these keyboards when you put your ear down real close?"

2. "Who put decaf in the wrong pot?!?"

And the number 1 best thing to say.....

1. Raise your head slowly and say, "...in Jesus name, Amen."

I hope you laughed as much as I did. There really isn't anything going on for inspiration for a real post, so please accept my pathetic attempt in not abandoning my blog....

V-day

Happy Valentine's day! (or happy single-awareness day, depending on how you look at it)

Matthew and I are not doing anything super special today. Our 3 year anniversary is coming up, and my birthday is in exactly one month, so I don't want to stress him out too much haha.

I am sick... again. This time it is allergies from the changing weather. I swear this state will be the death of me. I started coughing on wednesday, and then my throat started hurting from the coughing, then yesterday my sinuses started acting up. So today I am just a huge pathetic mess. Let me tell you, there is absolutely NOTHING romantic in coughing and sneezing with a tissue stuck permanently to your nose. Poor Matthew. He has been so good today though. I got flowers (I will put up pictures next time) and they are beautiful! He has such great tastes in flowers. He also ran to the store for me to get some chloraseptic spray, o.j., tissues (ours hurt my nose, so he got me a box of soft ones with the lotion), peppermints and cough drops, and a bazillion tubes of Carmex. He's amazing! So I'm going to go watch some more tv and maybe try to take a nap. I hope to start a new "segment" (I guess you could call it that) about recipes and such very soon :)

George

I am still sick. Can you believe it? I thought stomach bugs were suppose to run their course within a couple of days. It's been 4 days now... I may have to go to the doctor (unfortunately my doctor isn't a smoking hot vampire...). I spent most of the day curled up on the couch with a blanket and pillow watching a HOUSE marathon on tv (love that show... too bad he's not my doctor either). I was really only missing one thing.... George. You may remember from a previous post that George is my cat. I've had him for as long as I can remember, and he is my baby. I love him to death, but I can't have pets in my apartment (and Matthew is allergic). He lives with my mom right now. I can't imagine much of anything that would have made me feel better than to have him curled up beside me just purring away.

While thinking about this, I came across this article on MSN. I have always argued that pets are good for stress relief, and this is just further evidence. I have considered getting a doctors note so that I can have George because I am easily stressed. What do you think? Do you think it will work?? Nice thought, but I don't have the guts to try it. Whatev.

Take me to Dr. McSparkly

I have been sick ALL DAY LONG. It totally sucks. There is a stomach bug going around campus. I should have known I would end up with it when the ladies at work told me they had all been through it the week before. UGGGHH I hate being sick. I didn't go to class today because I don't want to spread it around. I'm pretty sure that my car won't make it up the mountain of ice that the snow plow kindly left behind my tires anyway. So here is my dilemna. I have to run participants tomorrow in the lab. As long as no one signs up for my times, no big deal. No... such.... luck. My time tomorrow if completely full. What am I suppose to do with that? No one will respond to my emails requesting they take my times. I'm scared to death I'm going to puke on the participants (and I'm pretty sure that will mess with the data... just a hunch). I'm so aggravated/sick/upset/tired.

So take me to Dr. McSparkly. I'm sure he would make me feel better :) or at least answer my emails...

Sick of being sick

I am so miserable today! I feel the worst that I have felt all week. Of course my worst "attacks" were right in the middle of both of my classes when I'm stuck and can't go anywhere.... not between classes. I'm at home now, but still have two meeting tonight. I don't feel comfortable driving myself, so I'm waiting on getting that figured out. Also, it sucks that I feel so horrible, but I'm the only one home so I am taking care of myself. I am perfectly capable of doing so, but it is the only perk of being sick that you should not have to take care of yourself. I need Matthew here to go get some medicine for me and bring me juice lol

Happy Birthday Amanda!

Tonight was Amanda's birthday party! We met a large group of friends at Cheddar's to celebrate (there were 16 of us in all). I think everyone had a very good time, and Amanda seemed to enjoy it. I don't have any pictures unfortunately (except for one, but I'm pretty sure Stefan would kill me if I posted it) so, sorry about that. Right now I am just resting. I'm about to get my stuff together for classes tomorrow. I still feel sick, but I can't take any medicine because I don' t want to feel groggy in the morning. I slept sooo good last night in my benadryl-induced coma... I am certainly going to miss that tonight. Anyway, off to get my stuff together and then to bed. Big day tomorrow!

uuuggghhhh :(

I hate being sick. My throat started hurting a little bit yesterday, and now it is full blown swolen and hurting :( My sinuses have been bothering me for the past couple of weeks, so I think my throat hurting is because of my sinuses, but it still sucks. I just hope it gets better before Amanda's party on Tuesday, and classes on Wednesday. I'm going to finish my huge mug of hot tea and honey, then take a nice warm shower and go to Frankfort. Hopefully I will feel better soon.
